Also this month is the Aotearoa cloud chart. Aotearoa means the land of the long white cloud and the chart helps you to learn about the future weather from the clouds. Aotearoa Cloud Chart.

Cirrus clouds are thin and wispy. They form above 10 000m and can signal rain.

Cirro-cumulus are high ice clouds which warn that the weather is going to be cold.

Alto cumulus look like a pile of small greyish-white clouds jumbled together.

Cumulo-nimbus clouds can tower 20 000m into the sky. They produce rain, snow, hail or thunderstorms.

A smooth layer of grey overcast nimbus clouds often bring rain or snow.

Cumulus clouds form in fulffy white heaps. Small ones are a sign of fine weather on the way.

Strato-cumulus is a lumpy sheet of rounded clouds which may bring light falls of rain.

Stratus are low thick sheets of fog-like cloud covering the sky. They often bring drizzle.
